The History of the Happy Meal

The Happy Meal has been sold at McDonalds since June of 1977. This is one of the most iconic things in American life. This meal was successfully target marketed to children due to the impressive use of toys. The toys made kids want the meal even if they didn't want the food. This whole brilliant plan was forged by a advertising agent named Bob Bernstein the CEO of Bernstein-Rein Advertising. This idea helped to make McDonalds even more money. Ever since this idea they have expanded to kids with the play area within the restaurant. The Happy Meal helped to pave the way for other great ideas.

The happy meal is so yummy. It always made me happy.I loved getting four chicken nuggets and a McFlurry, I really liked going there as a young lad, I used to frolick when the thought of Mickey Dee's was brought up.

Happy Meals, along with the little toys that were included, was a great marketing strategy for sure! There was so much advertisement on TV that targeted little kids who begged their parents to bring them to McDonalds just for those silly toys. I heard recently that there is a consumer group that is attemting to have those little toys banned.... doesn't seem right. Nice job with the blog Tommy.
